I would tend to disagree that x86 can't deliver on performance... Here is a
nice box to run a MPE VM on, but yes admittedly this one is a little short
on internal disk space with a current limit of 2.3TB limit.

The HP ProLiant DL785 G5, the newest and most expandable addition to the
award winning HP ProLiant line, is an 8 socket x86 server, supporting up to
8 Quad-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processors, 256GB of memory, 11 PCI-e I/O slots
and 2.3TB of internal storage. With this highly scalable feature set the
DL785 G5, is an ideal choice for the growing enterprise class database,
consolidation and virtualization environments seeking to improve server
utilization and reduce server sprawl, while continuing to leverage all the
familiar and easy to use ProLiant management tools and options.

Available processors
 Quad-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Model 8354 (2.2GHz).
 Quad Core AMD Opteron(tm) Model 8356 (2.3GHz).

Subject: Re: [HP3000-L] MPE Emulator

I'll answer based on what I know about strobe's hp1000 emulator (which ain't
a whole lot...)

the 1000 emulator is a hardware solution. I believe the people wanting to
build an mpe emulator are going in the same direction.

given the reply from sri...i don't think hp-ux is in the picture for mpe.
it would seem that something x86 is involved. but finding it a bit
difficult to think a mpe emulator that is x86 based can deliver any serious
horsepower...i would like to think that something intanium based would be
really interesting 8-} - d
