The following is the tentative 'published' agenda for the SIG ALLBASE meeting
at IPROF. I would appreciate any and all input for additional items that
need to be addressed.

SIG Allbase Agenda for IPROF 1997

1) Introductions and Announcements - Gary Biggs, SIG ALLBASE Chair
(10 min)

2) Vendor Presentations - Speakers TBA - Several vendors have
requested time to give presentations on their new or enhanced
products for use in administering or utilizing the ALLBASE environment,
speakers to be determined by the vendor (45-60 minutes)

3) Future of Allbase - Doug Myers, Hewlett-Packard - Doug will give
a presentation on current and future enhancements to ALLBASE and
the future direction of the product (15 minutes)

4) Break - max 15 minutes or as needed

5) Technical focus on ODBCLINK/SE - Speaker TBA - This presentation
will be of interest to anyone who works with ALLBASE/SQL or
IMAGE/SQL in the Client/Server environment. Hewlett-Packard and/or
M.B Foster will present an in depth discussion on the capabilities and
implementation of the new 32-bit ODBC API. Topics of interest to
Beta Testers include debugging techniques, ODBC 2.0 Compliance at
the API Level, security issues, network utilization and
performance. SIG members are encouraged to formulate questions in
advance for discussion during this segment (30 - 45 minutes, plus
Question and Answer as needed)

6) SIG Allbase Enhancement List - Gary Biggs - SIG members are
requested to submit additions or changes to the enhancement list
to the SIG chair at the beginning of the meeting. (45 minutes)
N.B: Figures in parenthesis after the enhancements are the
resulting rank on the 1996 MPE System Improvement Ballot and the
total number of points it received. SIG enhancements were left
off the HP-UX enhancement ballot for 1996 by mistake.

A. Development of both 16 and 32 bit ODBC 2.0 compliant PC/APIs
with encrypted log ons and full support for the security
information provided by SQLTablePrivileges and
SQLColumnPrivileges (MPE SIB #22 435)

B. Provide a mechanism for limiting the number of rows/columns
returned in response to an ODBC request (MPE SIB #48 98)

C. Multi-Column INDEXED retrievals on ALLBASE and IMAGE/SQL
tables (MPE SIB #49 96)

D. Throttling and Priority controls for the ALLBASE/Net Listener
and Service Processes (MPE SIB #50 83)

E. Implementation of the ANSI/SQL CASE statement or equivalent
functionality (also suggested Oracle DCODE and Microsoft IIF
functions)

F. Additional String Manipulation and Mathematical Functions In
ALLBASE/SQL (MPE SIB #52 75)

G. SQL Enabling Extensions for the PERL scripting language (MPE
SIB #54 36)

H. Improved distribution mechanisms for ALLBASE documentation

I. Improved user interface for the ALLBASE DBA utilities

J. The ability to drop and add tables without dropping the
dependent views when restructuring an ALLBASE Table

7) SIG Business and Wrap-Up - (10 minutes, if needed)
