Which is why MPE/iX works this way. In fact, in early pre-releases of
MPE XL, it didn't work this way...and lots of ingrained human behaviors
stopped producing the expected result. Most notably ":REPLY36,7". So,
we opted for supporting forward compatibility of this feature.
