Was it a mirrored Disk ?
 Yes ? Then you need to follow the standard procedure after H/W replacement.
NO ? Try SCRATCHVOL ldev# first and then the NEWVOL command.
The technician should have give this advise.

Subject:  Replace disk in user volume set problem




I had a disk go bad (member3 of a user volume set; mpeix 5.0 pp6). Just
got it
replaced. DSTAT shows status as unknown.
When I try the NEWVOL command to declare it same as before I get error
that the
   member exists.
It appears that a master directory for the user volume exists. Can this
be cleaned up
some how, or must I go thru and re-build the complete volumeset?
