It's possible to update to 5.5 directly from 4.0 or 5.0PUSH (but not from
4.5 or 5.0PULL). I have no idea if updating from 4.0 directly to 6.0 will
be supported or not, but if not, then updating from 4.0 to 5.5 and then to
6.0 will not (I am sure, but can't say officially since anything is
possible and besides it's not my job or even company. ;) require putting on
5.5-based patches. If a step up to 5.5 does turn out to be necessary, then
an SLT+FOS+SUBSYS update (with corresponding update conversions to such
things as Allbase DBEs as needed) should be all that's needed before
beginning the 6.0 update. However, if the 5.5 update process is
significant in time or effort compared to the time and effort to do a
backup, I would do another backup before starting the 6.0 step.
