Hi all,

Just wanted to summarize and say "thanks" again.

The workaround was to go to File/TransferSetup/Protocol and
select Doug Werth's "HP 3000 over X.25" (instead of "HP 3000 over modem").

This changed the following flags:

   INHIBIT_DC2 yes (vs. no)
   INHIBIT_HANDSHAKE yes (vs. no)
   HOST_PROMPT ^@ (null, vs. ^Q)
   TRANSMIT_PACING XON/OFF (vs. none)

And...the transfer worked, albeit with the transfer always started
with two receive timeouts! (Repeatable over 4 tests)

BTW, if I started with "HP 3000 over modem" and change the first
three flags above via Setup/Termninal/Advanced, and the fourth
flag via Connection/Setup/More, I also get a working file
transfer (with the same initial two timeouts).

Misc notes:

Timeouts not due to system load or slow response

DC1 *NOT* being swallowed (display-functions shows it arriving)

TRACE is useless (Connection/Trace/Start) ... it nicely traces
everything *except* the insides of a file transfer!

LDEV 21 --> barely supported mux port (i.e., not a DTC port)

thanks again,
