If you REALLY want to do this, the product from PONY previously mentioned
does indeed look promising. Alternatively here for many years we've used
various combinations of the HP JetDirect 3-port and HP JetDirect 1-port
external print servers along with a special 'adapter' from BlackBox
Corporation (nope, a standard serial to parallel won't do) to enable our
old HP Rugged Writers (serial port only) to function on the network as
network printers. They're old as dirt, look like it too, but just won't
die. They go and go and go. (Just like the bunny). I can dig up part
numbers, etc if you're interested.

Subject: Serial Printers on the Network
Hi,
I'm sure many of you have already been there, so I'm asking for knowledge
=
gained from your experiences (why should we both bleed?).
We would like to connect some of our old HP serial printers to the =
network. I thought we could just pick up an external serial port JetDirect
=
device (does one exist?), place it between the printer and the network, =
and go from there.
Any ideas? Thanks for your time.
Bob
