192MB is the maximum memory you can install in a 917LX, according to
HPs documentation.

Subject: [HP3000-L] 917LX Memory Installation Problem

Currently my box has 192mb of memory in it. Works fine.

Tried to replace 4 of the 16mb SIMMs with 4 x 64mb SIMMs.

When I boot the system it hangs on the automatic memory test.

Never gets to the ISL> prompt.

I reseated the SIMMs many times and reseated the board back in the
box many times. Rebooted the box many times but the result is the
same -- system hangs on the automatic memory test, never getting to
the ISL> prompt.

Put back the old, original 16mb SIMMs, rebooted and the system gets to
the ISL> no problem......

Does this mean the 64mb SIMMs I tried to install are bad or ????

Any insight, help, comments, suggestions would be helpful......

TIA,
Brian Donaldson.
