We are moving toward such an environment, but are only just begining. We
plan to use Notes for email and discussion forums for teaching classes
at first; then add document/project Notes databases for collaborative
work; and only finally get into more procedure oriented electronic forms
with database links. We use the 3000 for administrative transactions
systems that will (probably) eventually be linked up with Notes Forms,
but mostly it will be a separate enviornment. (FWIW We plan to use
Cognos Axiant to move to client/server administrative systems, not Notes.)

The only connectivity we anticipate between Notes and the 3000 is via ODBC
on the PC. It would be nicer if we could utilize a server to server
connective to get to Image/SQL from Notes, but this seems to be away from
Lotus' direction.

BTW. A MPE Notes server would have allowed us to stay with MPE for large
systems, instead of adding a HPUX.

Plug Alert***
Lotus is offering educations institutions Notes and the SmartSuite products
at a *really* good price. It provides a site license based on several
dollars per campus FTE. This is called the Total Campus Plan.
*** End Plug Alert

HTH. If you want to know more send me private email.
