For $0 you can all get Yahoo! Calendar. If you poke around, you can find that shared calendars are available, too.

It is, of course, server/hardware, etc. independant. I think it has WAP access. Also, reminders to your text pager, email addresses, SMS cell phones.....

There are other features that help collaboration, like "briefcases" (not ala Windows) where you can put files for sharing within your group.

Subject: [HP3000-L] OT : I'm looking for a shared calendar solution

Hello fellow listers,

This is pretty much off-topic. I've been assigned the arduous task of
investigating a possible solution for a shared calendar application. We are
a staff of 6 persons, 1 resident (our staff assistant) and 5 more or less
mobile (including myself). We all have Windows2000 laptop PCs, with Office
2000 properly licensed and installed. We are in dire need of a common
calendar. More precisely, what we need to do is as follows :

- Each Staff Member needs to know where the other Staff Members are, at
least on a daily basis (not in real-time), whether she or he is at the
office or not.
- Each Staff Member needs the ability to update her/his calendar, and have
the updates automatically replicated to the other Staff Member's calendars.
- Each Staff Member needs to automatically obtain the agenda updates of
other Staff Members, at least on a daily basis, whether she or he is at the
office or not.
- We need a solution that is independent of our network infrastructure (our
office network is not permanently connected to the internet), and
independent of our servers. E-mail seems a convenient vehicle to transport
calendar updates to all Staff Members' calendars.
- Since we all have PCs, the solution needs to be PC-based and
server-independent.
- For practical reasons, we do not want to have more than one calendar per
person.
- And yes, price is a concern.

So far, we have investigated Outlook2000, Lotus Notes, and a few others. So
far these apps do not solve our needs, or not in a practical way. That's why
I asking all of you for new ideas.

TIA,
