Let's see....

fanatic n. One who is exaggeratedly zealous for a belief or cause. adj.
Overzealous in a cause.

Nope, there's none of those around here! :-)

As Wirt also alluded to....

Donna, were you around during the Boston Tea Party (I mean, were you
involved with HP3000 then)? The frustration level today is nowhere near
what it was then.

You are right, of course. Cooperation is always preferable to
confrontation. However, some times you have to take a stand. I think we
are approaching that time (again). As for being unprofessional, that's a
mighty multi-faceted word with many connotations and many (subjective)
definitions. I don't think the WSJ ad should be considered "unprofessional"
prima facie. Besides, who ever said we were professional anyway! :-)

Having said all that, and as much as I disapprove of dsilva's methods, there
is a grain of truth to what he has to say: There is absolutely nothing we
can do if HP is committed to the death of the HP3000. We have neither the
time nor money to fight a battle on that level. However to sit idly by and
do nothing is not in our best interests either.
