I just received a private message saying that numerous not-read
confirmations have been posted to the list from me. I was completely
unaware of this and respectfully apologize to the list for any
inconvenience.

I believe these occurred when I had problems with my modem connection and
had to abort a download of message bodies for retrieved headers. I have not
configured my mailer, Outlook 98, to send confirmations of anything to
anyone, so my assumption is that the confirmations were either beyond my
control on this side of the connection or were generated independently by my
mail server. (But if you know of another possibility that places the blame
on me, please speak up.) The only indications I had of a problem were a few
notifications from the list server saying my "posts" had been rejected due
to empty message bodies, and I thought that was the end of it.

Would it be possible to screen out posts with subjects beginning with
"Read:" and "Not Read:"? These would seem natural candidates for the rules
list (and might prevent further public humiliation of well-intentioned but
hapless list members :-).
