I am changing over a Protos program to
access a different Image database to retrieve
customer information...the best thing would be
to rewrite it, but since I am going through many
programs, that isn't an attractive option.

The new Image database is 3rd party and I have
already converted a number of Cobol programs
over to reading it without any problems.......

After unsuccessfully trying to insert code in the
Protos screen program to convert it, I decided
to add the new database to the Protos data
dictionary...after that was completed, then
I made minor changes to reference the new
database/dataset/dataitems in place of the old.

It compiled, but when I try to retrieve
the customer information, it gives me an error -21
on the dbget mode5. The dbopen and dbfind were
both successful. Verified the data set name was
OK and the class appears to be the correct one
for read/write access.

The only thing I saw that was different from my
databases was that the data items had no security
on them...just the dataset. So I tried using Adager
to add the same security to all the items as the
datasets (1,60,63/60,63) are set up. Recompiled
Protos schema and recompiled programs.

Now, I get an error -21 on the dbopen, which I
wasn't getting before...and the password is
correct.

I seem to be digging myself deeper and deeper.
Any idea why Protos and Image are behaving
like this?
Tom
