        I have a question...

We are in a wide area network environment with all the HP3000(s) at
one location. The HP3000(s) are all on MPE/iX 5.5, power patch 5. Recently
the WAN connection went down and the three HP3000(s) that were using it at
the time apparently got some sort of signal from the router gateway that it
was unavailable so they stopped trying to us it. The problem is, even after
the connection was restored the HP3000(s) still refused to use it. The
other two HP3000(s) that were not using the connection when the it failed
were able to use the connection without incident after it was restored. I
ended up stopping the network and NS and starting them again to make the
problem go away. The issue with doing that is all of my uses at the
facility that houses the HP3000(s) (that us NSVT) had to log off the systems
or get aborted when I shutdown the services. My question is why the
HP3000(s) reacted this way and is there a less intrusive way of resetting
the gateway after the connection is restored?

Thanx,
