James: here's my question for the internet group - thanks!
     Greetings!!

     Ok...Back to business.

Is there a efficient, programmatic way to find a file on the HP3000?

     We use LISTF "file.group.@" and
     FINFO("file.group.@","exists) and
CREATEPROCESS etc, and FOPEN etc, etc - to start program files.

Each of theses requires overhead to find the file and/or interpret the
success or failure of an error return.

Is there someway to find a file programmatically via HPPATH without
     executing it?

or the same way HELP "file" finds the "file" - instantly - and without
the overhead of one of the above commands?

     Thanks
