Isaac, Gavin, Jim Knight, and I have all commented on
the question of "balancing" MPE and UNIX at IPROF-96
(hope y'all take note that I avoided saying "MPE versus
UNIX".... I give myself 3 points for being conciliatory). ;-)

I'm going to disappear into the depths of the North
Cascades for a week; we'll see if there are any more
thoughts in this area when I get back. In the meantime:

Partial preliminary tenative initial outline of IPROF-96
schedule now looks something like this (i.e.; nothing
is in concrete or hardly even in jello yet):
========================================

Tuesday evening 19 March 96:

Room in Le Baron Hotel for informal pre-conference
get-together. Music (if any) will be *low* volume. Maybe
some munchies and drinks (which may or may not be
free (TBD)). Places to *sit* and talk (this balancing
small plate, drink, and utensils in hand while trying to
stand and eat and talk stuff needs to stop, IMHO).

Wednesday 20 March 96, at San Jose Le Baron Hotel:

SIGSYSMAN session # 1. Times still TBD.

Evening reception. Food and beverages. Enough
places for all to sit and eat and talk in civilized comfort.

Thursday 21 March:

Evening open for individual SIG executive committee
dinners & etc.

Friday 22 March:

SIGSYSMAN session # 2. Times still TBD.

HP3000-L evening dinner; pretty much just like last
year (except this time if there is any good food left
over, let's take it with us when we leave).

Saturday 23 March:

HP Management Roundtable after lunch; at least
2 hours 30 minutes worth (?? 3 hours ??).

Interex Management Roundtable after HPMRT.

Saturday evening: ????, depending on how many
people are staying over for airfare bargains.

Assuming SIGIMAGE, SIGMPE, SIGNETWORKING,
and SIGUNIX all meet (pretty good odds), expect one
of these large SIGs will have to do at least one
session on Saturday.
 ------------------------------------------------------------

If anyone has any general suggestions for variations
of the above, I'll read your comments when I get back
to civilization on 16 October...........
