Hi!
We're replacing a very old LaserJet printer (the original!)
with a LaserJet 5M.
The old LaserJet printer is connected to a DTC, and I would like to
use the same serial connection. The ldev number of the printer is hard-coded
to the HP3000 application that prints to that printer, so using
the network connection is not advisable at this time.
The serial connector on the LJ 5M is 9-pin, and it is on the
same card as the JetDirect card.I use the 2,3,5 pins.
When I print to the new printer, the printer display says "Data Received" many
times, but nothing is printed. The printer then goes STOPSPOOL after a
few seconds.
The printer (new and old) are both located 3 floors from the DTC. The
old printer has no problem printing (just that the rollers are 8 years old,
causing excessive jamming!)
Does anyone have an idea on why this LJ 5M does not print on that location?
I know that the serial card works, for I tested it OK close distance to a DTC.
Does the distance of the printer from the DTC cause this problem?
If not, does anyone have other ideas? TIA,
