That may be conjecture, but I got this out of a story in, I believe, the
Newswire, where HP was quoted as having lost millions of dollars in lost
revenue because of the activities of these folks.  And since maintenance
revenue was not a source of revenue for CSY, even if these black market
boxes subsequently went on support, it would not have helped the 3000.

Perhaps Ron S. can refresh my memory.

That's conjecture.  There's been no evidence of this.

Indeed, I suspect that few such sites are known.  (I certainly know of
none.)

Aside from lack of evidence, keep in mind that some of those sales probably
went to sites that were leaning towards leaving the platform entirely.
It might even be the case, to the extent that such sites then bought HP
support, that such sales *helped* the HP 3000.  Given HP's reticence to
talk numbers, I doubt we'll ever know.
