Unfortunately MPE does not currently support socket(SOCK_RAW), so I think
there's just about zero chance of any open-source ping programs running on MPE
today.  :-(

There's a bunch of Perl network tools (pingalyzers, etc) that would be happy if
they could do SOCK_RAW...
