Given the fact that I feel more comfortable with technical material,
here is another web page that mentions Apple (and Hewlett-Packard
-- along with Compaq, Gateway, and others -- following Apple's leadership)

http://news.com.com/2100-1040-830221.html?tag=dd.ne.dht.nl-sty.0

Specifically:

Apple Computer announced last week that its new Power Mac G4 models
will include a GeForce4 MX chip.

Hewlett-Packard announced that it will offer the GeForce4 MX as an
upgrade option in all custom-configured Pavilion home PCs. Compaq
Computer and Gateway are also expected to offer the graphics chip
     within the next few weeks.

-----------------

With Apple, at least, you can always buy newer G4 hardware to run
Apple's newest operating systems (an option that, I believe, is not
available for MPE-Image -- please correct me if I am wrong). Would
this mean that the class-action suit against Apple is not in the same
class as any potential class-action suits (from Californians) against
HP?

Excuse me while I go to Apple's web store to order a new machine (see
http://www.apple.com/powermac/processor.html for the technical
details and http://www.apple.com/ for the overall context).

Peacefully buying (instead of suing) in Idaho,
