We have three Model 20 Disk arrays using Raid 1 mirroring (two physical disks mirroring each other). It works great; however, only the disks are hot swappable. If you lose a controller or power supply, you are looking at taking the box down. We have 15 disk modules on each of our three Model 20s: seven pair in Raid 1, plus one hot swappable disk.
Also, I believe you are limited to 7 LUNs on the Model 20. I have forgotten for sure. Call the HP Response Center or your CE to confirm.
We also have two 12H AutoRAID arrays on our HP3000 979/400. They are completely hot swappable compared to our aging Model 20s.

Can someone advise if the model 20 disk array on the entire system will =
work like software mirroring. Will this replace the need for software =
disk mirroring? Sabing us a bunch of money if software costs? It will be =
hot swapable if we use J-Bods.
