Hi Donna,
um.... I believe the equation would be density*length minus overhead
amount....
so a 2400' tape at 6850 bpi would be:
2400*12*6850 = 197,280,00 bytes max (I
have no clue about the overhead calcs tho!)
Note: this is of course based on me not
hitting any wrong keys on my HP 32S II calculator hehehe
So who will be the first to correct me :)

i guess this is an oldie but a goodie sorta question...
how much information can a 2400' reel (yes, reel) of tape
contain -- in theory. i guess, perhaps, the better question
is -- does anyone remember the equation for calculating
this? - d
