I'm looking for some help with Native Mode arithmetic traps. In our billing
program ( a COBOLII compatability mode program ) we call a non-dynamic SPL
subprogram to enable the arithmetic traps and provide a trap-handling
routine for errors. This subprogram, which was written for us by a third
party and has been running for 9 years, is quite simple in that it only
increments a counter by 1 and displays a buffer of information on an error;
the main COBOL program checks this counter periodically and takes action
when it is greater than 0. We are in the process of moving the billing
program to Native mode and need a way to do the same functions. The
COBOLII/XL trap handling is insufficient since it really only aborts or
continues with some other value replacing the error. Does anyone know of a
way to replicate the functions of this SPL subprogram in COBOLII/XL or
without using C or PASCAL? We would be willing to pay for a
written/compiled solution.

I can furnish more details on the programs if required and I'll post a
summary back to the group.

TIA
