Hello all @ 3000-l,

RE: FTP failing to connect.

"FTPERR 9" is typically not a client problem, but a server problem.

I was able to duplicate it between 3000's by breaking the INETD on
the server system after it has performed the select for the FTP
port, but preventing the fork of FTPSRVR.

/SYS/WORK: ftp aleta
File Transfer Protocol [A0011L11] (C) Hewlett-Packard Co. 2002 [PASSIVE SUPPORT]

Connection Failure
Cannot connect to host: (15.113.9.92) (FTPERR 9)

Do you know what kind of machine the remote FTP server is ?

We are in fact working on a MPE fork problem in INETD which is seen
as "FTPERR 9" at a FTP Client, but reported at the FTP Server as a
resource error in JINETD:

"INETD: fork failed. errno = 11; Error: Resource busy, try again"

... with the INTHD63/INTHD64 patch installed.

If the problem is not with a HP3000 FTP Server I would suggest using
the FTP client "DEBUG" option to gather further data and then you may
be able to make further progress by working with the Response Center
to trace the connection.

James Hofmeister
