Since you (Craig) said MPEX is OK, you should use the command file,
LINES.CMD.VECSL. If you like it, copy it to CMD22.VESOFT.
%lines.cmd.vecsl
LINES: Calculates the number of lines (EOF) in an
mpexfileset and the average number of lines
per file.
Syntax: %LINES mpexfileset
Example: %LINES @.SOURCE(ACCDATE<TODAY-30 & CODE='EDTCT')

By the way, I think MPEX is great and not merely OK. <grin>

Please respond to
"Craig M. Lalley"
What is the quickest way to determine the number of lines of code?
i.e. The number of lines of code in files in a group?
MPEX is ok.
Thanks,
