If you do not need any of the new 6.0 features (like Multiple Job Queues,
Samba or Java or BIND DNS with "official" support), then it might be far
less work/effort/risk to simply patch your current 5.5 release instead of
moving to 6.0 (and potentially having to also update 3rd party apps etc).

Just make sure to check out the Y2K related page on Jazz and install those
patches that are "beyond" PowerPatch 6 or 7 and nevertheless relavant to
your specific subsystems. VPLUS patch comes to mind here.

With Patch/iX you should be able to install PowerPatch and extra "reactive"
patches at the same time (i.e. no extra SLT cycle and associated downtime
needed). And you can perform most of the task (i.e. phase 1) while users are
still active on the system. You only need exclusive access to the machine
for phase 2, and that does not have to be "immediately" after phase 1.
