I should have added: to contribute via a charge card (which I think is a very
good idea, btw), fax us the necessary information (card type, card number,
expiration date, and amount), along with your email address. Our fax number
is: (505) 526-4700. We'll email you (and Ted) a receipt as soon as we
possibly can (most likely within an hour, if it's during our normal business
hours).

After giving this a bit of thought, I now think that this may be the
preferred way of handling the money. However, that should not be taken to
mean that checks are not perfectly acceptable.

If you do use a credit card, American Express charges the highest transaction
rate, Visa the lowest, and MasterCard is intermediate.

John Burke wrote the following to me privately:

;-)

The problem is that the rates aren't particularly stable. They vary from
month to month and are partly based on volume. The last rates we have are:

     Visa 2.6%
     MasterCard 3.2%
AmEx (we haven't had an Am Ex charge this year, so I simply don't know).

Normally Visa and MC are closer than that. Just to make things simple, we'll
charge:

      Visa at 3%
      MC at 3.5%
      and AmEx at 5%.

If someone knows the current AmEx rate better than that, we'll be pleased to
use that number.
