I am a Johnny come lately on this topic but I have to ask. I guess I missed
the War we are waging to end terrorism. What are you referring to? Did we
invade Saudi Arabia and increase our Troop strength in Afghanistan while I
took a nap? Also, which War ended Communism in Cuba, China, Vietnam or
Russia? I missed that one too.

I think it was more like Neville's pursuit of peace through a piece of paper
and allowing the Brit's armed forces to dwindle is what set up the disaster
you describe. If he had a big stick to back-up that piece of paper maybe
things would have been different. But his social programs were deemed more
important than security. And look where it got them.

Unfortunately, that statement represents such a complete misunderstanding
and
misrepresentation of history that it's difficult to know where to start.
The First War was the event that gave very directly gave rise to Fascism,
Nazism and Communism. The devastation and social upheavel of WWI very
directly
set the stage for the demogoguery and nationalist ideologies that were the
principle fruit of WWI. The Second World War, which has often been said to
be the
only "just war," was a direct consequence of the recriminations and
reparations
demanded of the losers of WWI and was an almost inevitable consequence.
If WWI had never been fought, it is entirely possible that Fascism, Nazism
and Communism would never have arisen.
