Completely off topic question, but since I respect the minds behind the voices of this list.....

I received a mailing (which I think was sent to all residents in my area) bad mouthing our local municipal utility district for spending ratepayers' money investigating the possibility of getting into the power industry. The reasons they are considering it are pretty simple: (a) it's profitable, (b) "California Power Crises" [um, yeah] made it obvious that having this controlled in Texas isn't a good idea, and (c) it's profitable.

So, the mailing was fairly damning, but that's not the point. The name of the organization sending the mailing was the very benign sounding "East Bay Consumers, Labor & Businesses (A Community Coalition)". And my question is: how do I go about finding out who these people are and where their money is coming from? I'm a bit of a cynic and I'm fairly certain they're funded by PG&E, but how do I find out?

By the way, the name is so generic that any webpage google can find on them is not what I'm looking for. Next suggestion?

Thanks,
Rs~
