Hi Folks,
    Mr. Packard was quite an imposing figure in person(a fathom and a
twelfth in height) and even when he wasn't in the same room, you felt his
presence if you knew he was in the building. His two daughters, Julie
Packard and Nancy Burnett are very active in promoting public awareness of
life in the oceans and the Aquarium and MBARI as well as Sea Studios are
just part of their efforts. "The Shape of Life" is Sea Studios first
production and will soon be followed by "The Living Machine".

    There are eight parts to "The Shape of Life" of which the first six will
be on PBS. A local newspaper, the Coast Weekly, just published an article on
this series and can be found at:

 http://coastweekly.com/article.asp?section=results&ref=7646

    <start of plug> A DVD with all eight of "The Shape of Life" segments can
be purchased via the Aquarium by calling 831.648.4952. You will reach Pat
Sand, my wife, who will be glad to explain any details. Yes, that is her
real name and she still gets "ribbed" about it at the Aquarium.
    <end of plug>
