Randy Smith commented on an internal use of a Web server to deliver
reports to end users. This is an excellent example of Web use and in
the Server chapter of my paper "C/S, the Internet, and WWW" I tried to
suggest that examples like Randy's are a very good use of the Web (see
http://www.robelle.com/www-paper/servers.html).
I think that Randy has shown good Web design by:
1. Anticipating that users may not have image downloading turned
on, and
2. Making all information available in only one or two "hops".
3. Not expecting all clients to have the same browser, even within
their own organization.
All in all, I got my $0.06 worth :-).
