A previous thread stated how well the MPE OS performs with respect to (wrt)
file system corruption. While this is true, I have found that unclean
shutdowns on either MPE or HPUX can cause problems.
Recently, after a OS hang (due to 3rd party sw), I had TWO corrupted
files:
HPDAARLG.PUB.SYS, used by ANSTART had "bad variable block structure"
and I had to rebuild it to start HPDARPA.
A critical database had been open and had the famous "FW" flag missing
and I had to run IMAGEOK (from Chris Bartram) so that our online
system would work again.
And, on my workstation, I have had to suffer with fsck as it
cleaned up the mess from a power failure, but I have never
lost a file.
So, while MPE is robust, never imply or say that MPE does not
corrupt files.
