And in fact we were taught that even if a process doesn't verify correctly,
the CPU that processed it is shut down and the other one picks up its'
workload until you can check to make sure the CPU is not failing. I spent
an afternoon learning about this platform (which was originally HP's, then
sold to Tandem, then became part of Compaq when they merged, and now full
circle back to HP). It appears to compete with the HP 3000 for
applications that cannot tolerate downtime (ATMs, on-line ordering, 911
systems, to name a few). The Tandem group (now HP employees) swear that
independent studies have verified that it is the least expensive system to
own when you take all costs into consideration, even though it costs more
up front (sound familiar?). I'm trying to verify that what they're telling
me is true. And if it is, then this is one solid platform.
