Agreed, but it had no depth and no irrefutable "smoking gun".

The unnamed photographers and unnamed thesis writer? What harm?

Thank you for your kind thoughts. I am an idealist and a perfectionist.
I'm nowhere near a Wirt or a Eugene. Nevertheless, in all group
decisions it is very frustrating to either a) do what I call
"compromise with mediocrity" or b) leave the group. Neither of which is
"doing it my way".

For that reason, I've always distrusted groups; especially large
political groups (political, business or religious).

I graduated from high school in June 1941; 6 months before Pearl
Harbor. After the war broke out, I joined the Marine Reserve and was
able to finish 1 year of college before being called up.

Question: Why the Marines?

Answer: I didn't want to be drafted into a large group (Army or Navy)
AND, as military groups go, the Marines had the best reputation. So, I
joined not because I was gung ho but because I was enticed by the
smallness and the (quality) reputation.

To return to your question. I don't know that I'm right. And never
will. But I have payed attention to history (including my own) and
believe the tennis motto "Never change a winning game and always change
a losing game.". Our leaders should all undergo tennis training. Maybe
then they'd stop imposing sanctions which, by now, they know never work.

I've always loved my country and still do. But, in the last half
century I have witnessed a lot of bad, self-serving decisions made by
our Federal Government which have unnecessarily lowered our quality of
life. Prior to he Bay of Pigs and Viet Nam, I respected the American
flag as representing all of the dead who fought to preserve our
country. Subsequently, and over the next few decades, I began to view
the Flag as a symbol used by our government to obtain support of their
ill devised efforts. I no longer salute the flag. Since I don't belong
to any "group", I can't participate in any group protests. My snub of
the Flag is my protest against a government which, I believe, is making
America a lesser country than it was in my idealistic childhood.

Hope that helped.

Fred
