Has anyone else installed the ping of death patch for 5.0?

I did (at least it *looked* like it worked) and afterward tried to ping
it and *boom*. Rebooted (patch install didn't say I had to) and tried it
again... *boom*

I downloaded the patch from HP's web/ftp site and followed the instructions
(as nearly as I could tell). The job it streamed seemed to indicate that it
copied/replaced all the files it wanted to...

How can I tell if the patch really installed correctly? If it did, then
there's a problem somewhere...
