Yesterday I hastily posted the question below. I knew what I meant, I
just didn't say what I mean. Nevertheless, still got some interesting
and useful responses. You have to love this user community. I am
interested in the pros and cons of the following approaches, and any
approaches that I may have missed.

One can leave a user 'homeless', so that they must provide the groupname
to log on. We have one user setup this way.

One can home a user to a group that has a password. That user will not
have to provide the password so long as they stay in that group, but any
other user not homed to that group would have to provide the group
password.
