Hello Listers,

We're looking for better way to email customized messages directly
from the HPe3000 (937, MPE 5.5 PP7) to a group of 600-700 addresses at a
time. Applications are COBOL, running against TurboImage databases.
Currently producing letters which are snail-mailed to one or 2 persons
each.

When we wish to do a 'bulk' emailing, we extract the email
addresses along with the person's name from our mailing database, create a
flat file and download to a Mac, where it is cut-and-pasted into Eudora for
emailing. This will seem 'hokey' to some, but since it is infrequently
used, works just fine for us.

A new project requires that the text of each message be customized
with names, addresses, status, etc. so I am looking into NetMail 3000, for
one, as a better solution.

        1) Any advice as to ease of use/cost?

        2) What do I need, hardware-wise on the 3000? It has a LAN card -
10-base T, with a few PC's on it. This is connected via hub to a Mac
network, which has Internet access.

Thanks for your responses,
Connie
