First of all, if you are using IOCONFIG to add network printers, you do NOT
need to reboot the system. The printers are added dynamically. This was one
of the great enhancements to MPE in 5.5 time frame.

Are you trying to use DNS for name resolution? If so, the presence of a
HOSTS file prevents DNS resolution. There is an enhancement, NSSWITCH, that
enables the use of both and in fact lets you determine which is tried first.
I don't know if this has GR'd yet. If this is the problem (you are trying to
use both HOSTS and DNS) check with the RC about the availability of the
NSSWITCH patch. In the meantime, you can only use either HOSTS or DNS, but
not both.
