From this decription I assume you mismatch the CONTIGXL program with
VOLUTIL's CONTIGVOL command. (available in MPE/iX 5.0 and 4.0 with
a later PowerPatch).

That is what is available from VOLUTIL : condensing, not defragging.

That is really one of the more complicated things on the wish list, and
maybe vurtually impossible for the system volume set.
