Yet another article on offshoring.

http://apnews.excite.com/article/20040107/D7VU68UG0.html

I'm so glad that soon I'll be able to buy everything for pennies since
that wonderful offshore labor has reduced the cost of everything. Well,
it better be for pennies because once we are all laid off, our "Do you
want fries with that" paycheck sure won't cover much.

And by the way, that new paycheck I'll be earning won't be giving much
taxes to the Federal Govt., the state govt., or the local govt. You won't
see much sales tax either as I won't be buying too much. Also, you won't
be seeing much property taxes from me as I will have to sell my house
too. But, I'm sure the foreign governments will be more than pleased to
tax their workers based on the money that the U.S. is sending them.

Someone said that all we American worker need to do is to be more
productive to be competitive. Yeah, sure, given that the foreign workers
are using the same compilers/software as me, I'm sure I can be at least 4-
5 time MORE productive than them in order to cover my bigger paycheck.

End of my whine, but really, where is the U.S. headed when China and India
have VAST labor pools ready to pick up anything that can be sent through
the internet and they can do it for less than a quarter of the cost of
doing it here? The U.S. is headed for a downward spiral as more people
lose jobs, can't afford things so don't buy and then more people lose
jobs. It ends when we become a third world economy.

My rants and raves are my own and conspicuously conflict with my employers!
