odbc drivers

We are now using odbc connections a lot more than in the past, and now we
find that the connections seem to hang, go unresponsive, refuse new
connections, and we have to abort the listener job and restart it.

 

Does anybody have any pearls of wisdom in this area they could share , which
might shed some light on this  please? Currently using the std code supplied
with 7.5  - are there better alternatives to this?
