Peter - I've just joined this group and some of the messages seen
this week have be very interesting, particularly yours regarding
using Access as a front end to Image. Our problem at the University
is we have applications written in Transact (obviously using VPlus)
and PowerHouse and we're now using Visual Basic and without doubt the
VB applications are the one people like over the character based apps
but we cannot develop them quick enough. I've suggested we
use Access many months ago, as you suggest, but this has never been
greeted with enthusiasm by my programming colleagues. Does this work
and what's the catch? Incidentally, we use Omnidex and Minisoft's
ODBC and we have a couple of good web applications dynamically
extracting data from our Image databases through ASP/IIS which our
users think are great and of course the HP is just the 'black box'
sitting in the corner.

We have bought Uniface from Compuware but am informed that they'll no
longer support this on the HP3000! (Along with others, eg Jetform,
Oracle etc.)

Michael
