" I was signing the receipt for my credit card purchase when the clerk
noticed that I had never signed my name on the back of the credit card."

Well,
Instead of signing my credit cards, I write "see drivers license" on them.
The idea being, this encourages the clerk to check an ID with a picture on it,
to verify my identity. It is amazing howmany clerks read that and simply hand
the card back and accept the charge, but that's another story.

Well, after dinner at a nice Indian resturant in a northern UK town, I used a
credit card so marked to pay for dinner. The waiter would not accept the
slip until I wrote (you guessed it) "see drivers license" on the signiture line.
It was later that I thought of using my best "autograph writing" to inscribe
C. Drivers License.

Oh well, I'm now prepared for the next time I encounter this "induvidual"
