We are setting up a temporary warehouse for one of our
remote locations. Currently the remote location is
tied into our corporate offices via a fractional T1
WAN using frame relay. We print to laser printers
using NPCONFIG and local IP addresses (10.251.46.nnn).
The new warehouse will be 5-10 miles down the road
from the remote location. We have less than 2 weeks
to get everything set up, in fact we want to start
shipping on 9/6/2005 and won't take possession until
9/1/2005.

Our usual mode of operation would be to have a T1 line
installed with a CSU/DSU and router, and a new subnet,
then hang all the devices off of a LAN. However,
given the short time frame, and the fact that we won't
be in this temporary warehouse for very long (6 months
tops), I was thinking of having a DSL line ran into
the warehouse and connecting the 2-3 PC's plus some
wireless laser bar code scanners plus a printer or two
to the corporate host. I know I can use telnet to
connect the scanners and PC's to the HP3000 host here.
What I need to know is if I can connect the laser
printers to the HP3000 using public IP addresses?
That is, can I set up my NPCONFIG file with an address
of 12.168.74.nnn and have it work correctly, where
"work correctly" is defined as having the spool file
sent out to the internet and wend its way to the
remote printer?

Any other suggestions are welcome also.
