Being the curious sort, I went to the tycho.usno.navy.mil home page, and
noticed a link to "NTP and Internet Network Time Services", which in turn
had a link to Time Synchronization Software at
http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~ntp/software.html. It listed several platforms:
UNIX, DOS, WIN16, WIN32, WIN95/98/2000, NT, NetWare, Mac, OS2, Java, IBM
OS/390, PDA, Amiga, Wrist Watch, and Window CE/StrongARM. I would like to
think that there are more MPE systems out there than Amigas and
wristwatches, and that the need for accurate time would be greater. To add
insult to injury, while the linking page attributes the list to Dr. David L.
Mills, University of Delaware, the name at the bottom is Norman Chang,
[log in to unmask] Yep, hp.com... I dropped him a note. He said to send him
the info, and he would update the page! Woo hoo!

I must also say that there is a satisfying elegance to converting a date to
Julian, adding or subtracting some desired interval, and converting the
result back to a Gregorian date.
