We use the Netserver LH machines and also have one LD. The LD, as with all
Netservers, is an excellent box. My only comment is to make sure that the
3 drive bay configuration is not a problem for you (the LH series has 6
bays). Of course you can always add an external storage cabinet in the
future if you need it.

The hot swap drives are of most benefit if you are also running a RAID
controller and have your drives configured to use one of the RAID levels
that gives you data redundancy. We use RAID 5. If a drive fails you can
pull the drive and insert a new drive without taking the server down. The
server automatically rebuilds the information on the replaced drive.
Things run slowly while this is taking place, but at least things still
run.

Feel free to email me directly if you have additional questions.

Anyone out there have a HP NetServer LD Pro. I'm interested in any
opinions you may have and also.....how does the concept of the
hot-swappable drives work?

I am planning to upgrade our network file server and would welcome any
suggestions on what to buy.

We are a small company with approximately 125 PC's on our LAN.

Thank you.
