Looks like they're not alone with this kind of problem.

On the other hand, it does not have to be this way. Just
recall the NewsWire article about the City of Long Beach,
which saved tons of money by not replacing their proven
HP 3000 solution with NT, but by "just" evolving to add
some nice GUI features and somesuch (to the 3000 app).

I wonder if I should contribute a "refrigerator" to the
HPe3000 logo/icon contest in the other thread... This is
one of the everyday devices that "feels" similar, i.e.
turn it on and it simply does the job, day in, day out,
not sexy and whizz-bang, but dependable and thus useful.

I prefer computers that _perform_ work instead of _causing_ work.
