I stand corrected. (I am more than happy to learn from my mistakes)
But at the risk of labourong the point.
In what way would situation 3

happen/occur. If Reslvcnf was there would it not respond in some form or
other even if DNS does not. I presume there is some embedded network
validation going somewhere.
