Thomas,

If you do not put in the MAC address of the DTC into the filter tables, then the messages from the DTC will not reach Openview or the HP3K.

Subject: DTC's and Routers

I hope someone on this mailing list will be able to help me out with a small
query.

My company's division on Holland is running a HP 3000 system over two LAN
sites. These two LANs used to be connected via a HP bridge. However, new
requirements has pushed forward and we installed routers between the two
sites in order to utilise the bandwidth properly.

The Cisco 2500 routers are routing IP only, and to have the DTC in site 1
communicate with the OpenView PC and the HP 3000 server on site 2 we have
configured bridging on the router. We first enabled filtering on the Cicso,
only allowing the OpenView PC and HP 3000 server to get trough, but then the
DTCs in site 1 could not connect. So we removed the filter from the Cisco
and the DTCs were able to connect.

According to the HP-3000 FAQ it should only be necessary to bridge the MAC
address of the Openview PC, but it does not seem to work. Are there anyone
who's got any experience with this kind of setup? HP themselves where not
able to help us out with this, at least not the Dutch division.

All help appreciated.
