If running MPE iX 6.5 and MPE iX 7.0:

1.  Log-on as MANAGER.SYS
2.  RUN RUNPSMON.PRED.SYS;XL='XL.PRED.SYS,DIAGXL.PRED.SYS';PARM=-65
    (The ;PARM=-65 does an orderly shutdown of the Predictive
     Support monitor PSMON.PRED.SYS, and the JPSMON.PRED.SYS job
     will terminate normally.)

If running MPE iX 7.0 Express I or later:

1.  Log-on as MANAGER.SYS
2.  RUN PSMOND.PRED.SYS;INFO="-k"
    (The PSMOND.PRED.SYS program when run with ;INFO="-k"
     does an orderly shutdown of the Predictive Support monitor
     PSMOND.PRED.SYS, and the JPSMON.PRED.SYS job will
     terminate normally)

i went to stop psmon on my 7.0 box and <oh suprise> there's
no runpsmon.pred.sys file!  anyone have the incantation to
politely shutdown psmon on 7.0?        - d
